Everyone deserves a socially safe environment to work and study. However, experience shows that this is not always the case. When it comes to undesirable behavior (e.g. bullying, unequal treatment), it can be extra tricky for internationals to determine what is ‘normal’ and ‘acceptable’ in a predominately Dutch working environment.
The role of a confidential advisor includes assisting, informing, guiding, and advising employees or students about options to put an end to the undesirable behavior. As someone who has served as a confidential advisor within academia, specializing in assisting international students and staff, I bring firsthand experience and understanding to address these sensitive matters.
